I started writing this weeks email with a ramble about AI, but then realised theres actually so much good stuff going on and I should probably put time elsewhere, so I'll park that opinionated rant for another time and focus on sessions incoming and kit which just landed.

The Parawing Start

Lots of people taking up parawing at the moment, I see and hear about the struggle to take off.
Here's a few key points:

1. Whilst kneeling on the board get some speed and fly the wing high for stability before moving to feet.
2. If needed - hold the wing with the back hand only, using your front hand to aid stability.
3. Lift the front foot first, then pause in a lunge until you are sure the time to stand is right. Don't hurry, wait for a good gust or gap between waves if need.
4. When you get to both feet don't rush to try and take off, instead pause in an across wind direction and check you are positioned right and physically ready.
5. Next, only when ready, make a considered action, turning the board downwind whilst dropping the wing and ensuring you have pressure on the back lines.
6. Focuses on pumping the board more than the wind, thinking "lighten your weight" rather than "press into the board".
7. When you lift onto foil don't stop pumping - better to work a little harder gaining a little more speed than dropping off foil and having to start again.

(1 last thing - Power, lift and volume is your friend, if in doubt - go big with kit.)
