Spring has definitely sprung and as we start to think about packing away the hoods, taking off the boots and digging out the thinner suits we're excited to start seeing more people sharing the water.
Winter has been non stop for us this year, a mix of planning, teaching, testing, updating and fixing was nestled between a solid run of storm sessions which kept us smiling.
So as we look to the clocks changing and the temperatures rising, we're excited to liven things up for the 2024 summer season.
Here's an update of what we've been up to and what's in the pipeline at Poseidon this year.
The School in Poole
Ben takes charge of our Poole school this year, with a great team of new and familiar faces beside him, they're excited to now be running kite and wing lessons and rental daily.
This year is all about the session. We're excited to ride together and host a bunch of regular action in and around Poole.
Our "Thursday Riders Meet" will kick off from the 4th April - A weekly evening get together with a focus on riding with and meeting like minded people. Sign up to our newsletter and watch out on our socials for more updates on the Thursday Riders Meet.
Adapting to changing conditions, the school will now be operating flexible opening times, putting the wind first the school will aim to be open when ever the wind blows, but might catch a lay in or early finish when it's not. The school will now generally be closed on Mondays as we lead towards summer- it's a time for our crew to rest and ride together, ready to be flexible until sunset the rest of the week.
We've taken a look at our kitesurf course options and decided to make a change to our program - breaking our full day courses down into half day modules.
This way of learning allows us to improve flexibility to adjust bookings around adverse weather and individual requests, whilst also offering a more budget friendly way for not-quite independent riders to join a session. Read more about our new learn to kite course HERE
Following demand we've also introduced a Wing Fast Track course - 4 hours of training which goes through everything needed to start this sport off the back of one slightly more intensive extended session

Advanced Coaching
We're excited to expand our advanced Kite and Wing coaching options this year in both Poole and Cornwall.
Now available in hourly, half day, 1 day and full weekend sessions, Chris and our advanced coaches are offering group and 121 coaching in kitesurf freestyle, big air and foiling. Whilst for wingfoiling, beyond intermediate coaching our focus is waveriding.
Camps and Trips
We're excited to start running guided and coached trips again. Kicking things off with UK based camps for both kiting and winging, we have introduced coaching focused "Progression Camps" and social focused "Session Camps" more info here:
Cornwall Coaching
Carrying on from last year, we are now offering kite and wing training from beaches local to Newquay when conditions align.
Cornwall Shop and Kite Demos
We love to share our expertise, advise and offer support, and are always looking for ways to improve the buying experience from us, so this year we will be increasing our offering of demo equipment so you can try before you buy.
Following a really good response of flexible shop times this winter which allowed us to be at the session and offer much more beach support and demos, for spring we will be continuing with opening 10am-4pm Friday and Saturday, available for pre-booked consultations Sunday-Thursday from 8am-8pm.
Events
We love getting people together and giving them a platform to shred and be social. This year we intend to do it more. We'll be kicking off with a Spring Session event, keeping up small weekly get togethers, and have got our minds working on a possible kite competition in Poole too. The Kernow Foil Classic will return for its' second year with a competition window between October 12th-27th.
