Coming to send a newsletter for the first time in a while I really didn't want to lead in with a classic "spring has sprung" line, but after the last few days delivered enough heat to actually get bare skin out and I looked out the 4mm suit getting excited about the season change it's unavoidable to mention the weather. It's a great time of year, everyday seems to get easier and easier. Brain freeze becomes just a memory, evening sessions return and the car park socials start again as people don't need to rush back to the comfort of the dashboard heater vent. It's only our soft winter feet that complain until we've clocked a enough skin toughing sessions to loose the post winter hobble.
There's only one sad in my mind - the end of the winter ocean energy. If you can put aside the rain we had (it literally rained 55 days days in a row here), what an unbelievable run of conditions this winter served up. A solid swirling mix of conditions ticking every taste of riding over and over. Whether you like chilled ones, fast ones, easy ones or scary ones I hope you managed to score some gold this cold season, it was a belter.
Poseidon side I'm entering this year buzzing and have plenty in the pipeline.
Anyone that chats to me often knows I've been like a broken record lately. A house project ended up becoming something much bigger than anticipated and the juggle to piece back together a 450 year old house definitely took some of my attention the last year. We all have those challenging moments of growth and graft in our lives when the need to step up and immerse yourself somewhere new can become all encompassing, mine went on a little longer than planned and excited to be returning to norm. I feel that sometimes those chapters of life are a beautiful thing, deep in the grind of personal growth they present the opportunity to reflect and assess on the previous norm from a more open minded point of view. A bit like getting into prone foiling if you'd only done wind sports.
For me the last year has been a great chance to reflect on 13 years of Poseidon and make sure I'm walking it down the right path. Thinking back over a decade as a school, then focusing on adding a shop, then closing the school, as we enter spring 2026 I'm excited to focus energy back onto training, events and the community.
Not taking away from our retail, just put a whole lot more energy into real life action at the beach.
Why? Because helping people in our sports is what I know and love and I love what I know.
Read more about plans this year below, and feel free to give a shout anytime about lessons, rental, socials, demos, camps and kit.
