The Weekly Wash - Fun weekend inbound

What a flurry of energy this week.
The phone was alive with people excited for sessions, lessons, kit and catch ups.
So good to see the froth.

I'd actually planned to film a spot guide video for this week, but the filming window flew by, then I wrote a ramble of thoughts newsletter, but having re-read I'll save that for another time.

So keeping this one brief as theres plenty in the pipeline for the next few weeks as new kit arrives and I get to film some bits with people.

My main pre weekend heads up would be to draw your attention to the forecast (in case you hadn't noticed), possibly the last westerly wind for a little while, the north coast of Cornwall is set to be real fun on Saturday with plenty of energy on sunday too.
Low tide in the morning and high tide in the afternoon.
Dreamy.

Local advice for the weekend

Kite - Hayle late morning could be peachy, or Watergate for onshore smashing.
Wing - Daymer might switch on early/mid afternoon, Hayle might be a more certain bet .
Prone - Praa or 3 tunnels mid way through the pushing tide, could be best, or the St Ives - Carbis bay run, if thats your jam.
Tow - no wind to tow when theres energy in the air

Safety and technique advice - riding in wind-with-tide waters (like riding in an estuary with onshore wind during a pushing tide) can make it more tricky to go upwind.
If you're struggling to go up, stay in the shallows where the tidal flow slows, try to ride faster to increase apparent wind and rig up a wing/kit size if its safe to. If you fall, avoid drifting down by getting going again as quick as possible.

Aim to get out of the estuary if needed, but expect the wind to decrease as you leave the 'venturi wind effect' caused by the estuary topography.
